Description: Calcite + stilbite Biod a' Mhurain, Duirinish, Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK Calcite crystal 33 mm A large interpenetrant rhombohedral twinned calcite crystal 33mm wide is perched aesthetically on a bed of smaller simple calcite rhombs, which are in turn deposited on a thin layer (1mm) of tiny stilbites. The calcites are mostly dull with surface etching or coating but are transparent otherwise. Found at a very remote locality on the Duirinish peninsular. This specimen and the next three specimen photo's all came from the same large vein cavity, in basalt lava. Self-collected 1997 from Biod a' Mhurain, Duirinish, Isle of Skye, Scotland.
