Mineral: Fluorite on Quartz
Locality: Huanggang Mines, Hexigten Banner (Kèshíkèténg Qí), Chifeng (Ulanhad), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
Description: As I indicated in my opening post, these inky blue fluorites from the Huanggang Mine complex were among the few truly new things, here at Denver. These made their debut at the Sainte-Marie show this past June. Several Chinese dealers brought specimens to Denver and there were plenty to select from. The fluorite occurs on milky white quartz, and the cubic crystals appear rounded due to a multitude of modifications. When backlit, they exhibit a nice blue color.
