Rhodonite with Tremolite - Chaobuleng Mine, China - 130 x 68 x 58 mm
Mineral: Rhodonite with Tremolite
Locality: Chaobuleng Mine, East Ujimqin Banner (Dongwu Qi), Xilin Gol League (Xilinguole Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
Dimensions: 130 x 68 x 58 mm

Description: Lustrous, flattened blades of Rhodonite form a large subparallel, seemingly doubly-terminated group measuring 130 x 55 x 36 mm, accompanied by a similar perpendicular group that is cleaved on the base. The Rhodonite is mostly opaque and light-pink colored, with portions that are gemmy and cherry-red. Light-brown Tremolite (confirmed by analysis) coats portions of the specimen. Although there is some damage, it is masked by the ragged crystal terminations. This is a nice and large piece from this prolific Chinese locality.
