Hi Rei, I've never seen a glass-blasted stilbite before, and I was curious to see what they looked like!
I don't suppose you have a before and after photo you could post for us?

Cheers, Mike

Thanks, that would help explain it - I have to admit, I was rather confused ;) I can actually picture that, stilbite seems to have a little bit of "give" to it, at least compared to quartz ...

I recently got one of those "round tuits" and setup my sandblaster after acquiring some various blasting agents so I could clean mineral specimens better. I've had some bad results, some gr ...

Parvin: What exactly are you doing with europium? Just dipping the calcite in it? Colors are due to small amounts of impurities in the crystal lattice (or defects in the lattice) - they're not surface ...

I'll note that a different sample (Kongurinn), in addition to being primarily Stilbite-Ca, was identified as also having "Phyllosilicate. Asbestiform - possible serpentine group. Requires XRD&quo ...

Hi Rei, many thanks for sharing your test results with us! :-)
Interesting to see that the beach specimen with the fine 'cauliflower' stilbite-Ca crystals, was accompanied by heulandite-Ca! This is ...

This leads to a good mineralogical question--I've wondered, what IS the cause of the black vs. golden-brown color in some goethite, as in the different parts of this specimen? I don't think I've ever ...

No, edenite does not form in water (unde ...
