Not a good idea to be out in the field with pointy bars sticking out of a sack full of steel. So, the Faraday cage of the control shack seemed like a good idea.

Both are carbonates. Calcite is calcium carbonate, dolomite is calcium magnesium carbonate. I'm not sure I've answered the question you've asked.
