Shawn's Dad's name is Phil Maddox, he was a well known gem cutter. Shawn has also learned the trade. We picked up some demantoid cats eye gem stones from him, out of California.
Both he and Blake live in Austin and dig all around the area.

That's it for my show report. It was a small show, very nicely put together and "clean" with nice displays, lights, etc. The admission price was $5.00 unless you are a senior or you bring in the show poster, downloaded from the internet, to get a dollar off. I wasn't too thrilled when they asked if I was a senior, so I asked what age that meant, they said 60. She was lucky I was in a good mood......

Absolutely!

Is a great help for these small shows to be highlighted, hopefully we get more reportages from other "Not So Famous" shows of minerals like this or like the recent reportage from h.abassi about a small Iranian show ( https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=1747 )

I would like to thank you Gail for catching the atmosphere of the Show and the trip. Nice view from Europe. I am old enough to continue admiring the Net and its 'gifts' like this, but without people like you, the Net would be an empty place.

Cheers

Antonio, you are most gracious. How very nice of you to say such things.
