I'm sure most of you know that the Denver Gem and Mineral Show, with "Minerals of Russia" as its theme, is Sept. 16-18; with Marty Zinn's show at the Holiday Inn open Sept. 14-18 (some dealers open on Sept. 11).
Marie Huizing asked me to point out that (somewhen in posts to the forum) two different dates were posted for the annual Open House - Reception at the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, to which all are welcome; the correct date iWednesday evening, Sept. 14, 6 to 9 p.m., with several new exhibits on display there, including the Empress of China rhodochrosite, Henderson mine molybdenite, and Colorado rare earth minerals.
Finally, this Saturday, Friends of Mineralogy is hosting a one-day Symposium on Minerals of Russia. Please come if you are in town!
Saturday, Sept. 10, Symposium on Minerals of Russia, cosponsored by Friends of Mineralogy Colorado Chapter, Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, and the Denver Gem and Mineral Show; to be held in Petroleum Hall, Green Center, Colorado School of Mines campus, 924 16th St., Golden, CO; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A series of lectures by visiting Russian mineralogists and others; registration fee to attend is $10. Attendees may register at the door starting at 8 a.m.; for more info please contact Pete Modreski, pmodreski@usgs.gov , 303-202-4766.

The Denver show concluded last Sunday and I thought I would post a few photos. This is a pretty pathetic sampling compared to Gail's reports, but better than nothing as my mom used to say. Overall the show was very good with pretty big crowds at the Merchandise Mart and the other surrounding venues. Theme of the show was Russian minerals but my camera went on the fritz and I only got a few decent photos. Lots of good minerals but I didnt notice any "new" finds. The Lees Colorado collection was on display at the entrance and absolutely fantastic. Wish all my other photos had come out.
The blue cap went home with me. Enjoy

Thank you so much Vic, we lacked some news about this important Show! ;-)
I unified your post with the previous from Pete Modeski in order to make more coherent both threads.
Please more....

Thanks so much for the photos of these great displays!
The Colorado rhodos from the Lees collection are simply incredible, pure eye candy! And as a collector of Namibian minerals i also love the impressions of the Uli Bahmann collection!!!
Cheers!
