PostPosted: Dec 12, 2011 17:57    Post subject: The Natural History Museum of Milan, Italy

I start here a little photo, and video, tour to this Museum where I am lucky to work with photography. Sorry for the not good quality photos, but its old photos. The museum are born in the 1838 born when the two naturalist De Cristoforis and Jan donated their collections to the city of Milan. Today is the largest museum of natural history of Italy. In 1943 the museum was almost completely destroyed by bombing and suffered considerable damage to many collections. Thanks to the enthusiasm of many, the Museum was rebuilt in 1952 and was re-opened to the public. The 23 rooms of the museum has over 5000 square meters of space, where the themes of relationships between organisms and the environment, the evolutionary history of life and wealth of natural forms are developed with great care. Here I show the mineralogical section, and only few other photos of the other collections.

Well... pictures from my favorite minerals photographer couldn't be bad... and are not bad at all. :-)

Please post more if you have them, I am planning to pay a visit to the museum this year (may-june).

Thank you

Arturo

Matteo,

Is a triple pleasure read your posts. The first pleasure is by yourself ;-), the second pleasure is for the quality of your photos and the third pleasure is by the topic, as the Milan History Museum is, as you mentioned, the main Museum in Italy together with the Giazzotto Collection ( https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=762 ) and with a lot of new stuff displayed, due the indefatigable task of Dr. Federico Pezzotta

Please more Matteo, all of us we love your wonderful photos!

A minor detail, the Vanadinite ( https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/files/5_192.jpg ) is, without doubt, from Mibladen area (probably ACF Mine) and not from Taouz. Is quiet easy mix both localities, specially when they have black matrix, so not a big mistake...;-)

Please more Matteo, all of us we love your wonderful photos!

Thanks for all, but photos is not of good quality seen I have use a old camera. Some specimens not exposed in the rooms of the museum its visible in my mindat gallery here

To complete the stupendous reportage of Matteo I suggest too a visit to this topic in the Spanish Forum -> https://www.foro-minerales.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3785 that I believe it adds some details to the fine work of Matteo.

Is on Spanish language but with a lot of images...
