Here is another micro of the surface of a Rogerley Fluorite showing 0 {111} faces of the nucleus crystals. If these were to grow further into dodecahedral crystals the a faces {010} {100} { 001} and opposites would grow slower (lower energy) than the "corners" of the crystal (higher energy). The final result would be that the "corners" grow themselves out of existence resulting in the cube final form.

One last for the night. These also fluoresce nicely in green.
