PostPosted: Jun 07, 2013 05:10    Post subject: A mineralogical trip through the regions of the UK

Some time ago we introduced an initiative that has been successful. We created a thread for each different states of USA ( A mineralogical trip through the states of USA ) asking minsurfers to contribute photographs of the minerals of each state. Given the success of that effort, we have decided to continue the idea with mineralogical visits to each major region of the UK through photos of minerals from these regions.

This is something informal, just a vision of what each region offers without serious scientific pretensions. Just for fun! (but please, don't publish massive specimens ;-)

Each region is organized alphabetically with all regions visible on one individual page. So to see the posts of this Forum you will need to click on the section called "A mineralogical trip through the regions of the UK" (or on this link)

BTW, all photos of "A mineralogical trip through the regions of the UK" will be automatically added to a new album in FMF Gallery. If someone want to see all images already published in "A mineralogical trip through the regions of the UK" now is as easy as visiting, in FMF Gallery, the album "A mineralogical trip through the states of USA & A mineralogical trip through the regions of the UK"

I hope this idea will please more members and visitors, please FMFers, help me in our task to add more images to the UK regions and in that way we will have a nicer vision of UK’s mineralogy!

If you have nice photos to help start sections off (those not started are those where I have no photos!) do let me know.

Hi everybody,

The new section A mineralogical trip through the regions of the UK is ready now thanks to the efforts of James. Thank you James!

Please download as many images as you can from every region according the rules written by James above
.
Please remember to write the whole routing for the localities. I mean, please use:

Hilton Mine, Scordale, Cumbria, England, UK

instead of:

Hilton Mine, Scordale, Cumbria

because the FMF Gallery needs it to work well.

BTW, now the images already downloaded are in the FMF Gallery where you can search for images. For example if you write in the search: Cumbria you will find all these images downloaded in the different sections of FMF whose images upload to FMF Gallery.
