PostPosted: Feb 13, 2009 03:53    Post subject: Re: Tucson Gail Spann Show report.

I love those blue rounded floaters with little malachite inside...
I drove to the Blue Ball last week... ;)
and... I loved that reindeer jumpin' a malachite tree in the Spann's display (and lots more in that display...).
The pimpled pickle malachite from Congo is also very very cool (I skipped breakfast so was hungry...), and the copper-dog from the Ray mine (wait until you see the copper Llama I took from Corocoro :-) I love the fan-tas-tic sushi we just had on Oracle North, and I loved the 2 feet crawling into a fluorite-crystal, and the calcite pseudomorph after banana (!!), the mineral breakfast-table, the Oregon 'sunstones' and sooooo much more. 01:44 here, got to sleep, cannot write whole night... But...
I love to see Justin&Brandy making fun and interviewing, and doing all that unique new things in our mineral world... The future is running around inbetween us...!
I love the volcanic bombs Alfredo is selling (don't take either bomb, -or label-, in handluggage please :-)
I love the Corocoro copper pseudomorph the Kosnar's gave me as a present. I loved the Proctor-Rudolph displays, and I loved the andradite psm after rhodochrosite I saw, and the "Stretch-cases" very much, and I love the Phosphophyllite powder from the first specimen ever analyzed (don't sneeze on sniffing it...). I loved the MAD and HAMS-cases. I almost choked watching those hand-big calcite floater-balls with jamesonite-inclusions from Herja. And the small but unique smithsonite ball from Tiger/Az from Pala Intl. I loved Carolyn Manchester's case with, among many oddities, the big -french- Mickey mouse. I loved the cyprus wood-coppers... I loved the small floater-ball of akanthite with silver and pyrite and freibergite I bought at Burillo's, and the scheelite floater (heavy!) from Attard's place.

And I loved just being in a jacuzzi under starlight under palmtrees drinking whiskey's for 3 hours with our Linda here at the Inn-suites...

Strange country this is... In the States everything seems to be (im)possible on one day... Too much fun here to fall asleep... I WILL need my cappuccino tomorrow... Help!

Cheers! Frank

Wow Frank, you do know how to enjoy life! And also..time spent with Peter and Nadia Lyckberg is always a great thing too.
I was a bit busy with the SMMP meeting yesterday and then to race off to hosting our dinner for the MAD group. There is never enough time to do it all is there?
We are off to the Main show to enjoy a day of socializing, looking at the wonderful displays, see who won the Desautels award, hugging many friends and then party tonight. My idea of a GREAT day!

A day in the playground!!!

The Texans, aka MAD and HAMS, put out a supplement to the MR. The case has many of the pieces from the supplement in it.

PostPosted: Feb 14, 2009 02:24    Post subject: Re: Tucson Gail Spann Show report.

After Jim finished another business teleconference, we head over to the convention center in tme to see the throngs of school children start to depart. They invite hundreds of kids to come and I hope a few will end up loving minerals as much as we all do.
The day was sunny and beautiful.
A great way to spend Friday the 13th!

Gail, Great report. Just love your coverage of the main show especially since I had to leave early. Will try to stay the full time next year. Next year's theme, "Gem Minerals" should be really cool! Keep up the good work.
