A new kid on the block ;-)

A lovely new book about the Luminescence of Minerals with a great author Guido Mazzoleni and a master photographer Roberto Appiani! ;-)
They will bring the first copies to the Munich Show, so don’t miss the opportunity to buy it. Roberto Appiani will sell it via his stand at "Rivista Mineralogica Italiana"

Below you have some words to describe a little bit this book:

LUMINESCENCE IN MINERAL KINGDOM
The magic of rainbows from rocks
Guido Mazzoleni - Roberto Appiani photo
SANDIT
ISBN 978-88-95990-64-4

A book about luminescence of minerals from the original Italian-written, 2010 issue. Up to date, it is a real novelty outside Italy. 240 pages in a 17 x 20 cm size, paging-up 421 figures, mostly color photographs taken by Roberto Appiani, probably the best Italian photographer of minerals. Mineralogy, geology, geochemistry and a bit of physics are the keys to unravel the deep secrets of rocks emitting all colors of the rainbow. Topics are described in a non-technical to semi-technical style. A glossary of technical terms is included.

Author Guido Mazzoleni is a professional geologist, born in Milan in 1955. He worked in Central and South America as a volcanologist and field surveyor for geothermal projects. He was asked to write a book about fluorescent minerals due to lack of publications in Italian language. Guido is member of the Fluorescent Mineral Society and wrote an article about fluorescent quartz from La Sassa (Pisa Province, Tuscany), published on FMS Journal, Volume 32, 2012.

Jordi, thank you very much for sharing with us this great news. For long time there was no new, up to date, book about luminescence.
I'll try to sell the book as soon as possible.

Greetings,
Herman

Hello all!
Many thanks to any kind people for the opinion and the interest in my book. I would have to apologize for the enormous delay of publication (October 2012!!!).
I am very indebted to several people who provided help in many forms. Thanks to Jordi! Thanks to Axel Emmermann, Belgium! Thanks to many kind people of FMS, including the friend Karl Heinz Russ and... many thanks to anyone who will tell me about possible mistakes (I do hope they will be almost absent, but perfection is hard to find on Planet Earth).
I sincerely hope to be in Munich mineral fair, so exchanging opinions, ideas and maybe a drink will be a pleasure!
All the best!

Guido

I will have to wait a little while more, no book store here has the book listed, even knowing the ISBN number has not helped. They can not get it yet.

Hi there,

When this book is published, I'm absolutely going to look where I can buy or order it. It looks great! Nice pictures.

Mark

Will there be a US distributor for the book or will it be available at the Tucson show? Looks very impressive.

George Polman announced that he would be carrying the book in the US and had several copies for sale at last night's Fluorescent Mineral Society meeting in Tucson. George may be contacted at the Polman Minerals website.

I purchased a copy from a book dealer in the Netherlands a few months ago. It is a very nicely done book.

I have a copy of this and the pictures are excellent. Perhaps the best illustrations of any book on this subject.
