PostPosted: Sep 06, 2010 13:59    Post subject: Val's Mineral Collection

I have enjoyed looking at the many specimens displayed on Jordi's wonderful Mineral Forums along with the wealth of information freely given by the many regular attendees. I collect minerals to please my self and seldom have I showed the collection to others, albeit Russ Behnke encouraged me to place photos on FaceBook in the past several months.
Unlike many collectors, I started out collecting in my mid 30 rds and had about 500 rarer species before I had a real aesthetic Calcite or Fluorite specimen. As my collecting interested expanded, aesthetic miniatures became a focal point and recently I have been concentrating on Thumb Nails. However, my wife, a non-collector, proclaims that I have never met a rock that I didn't like.
I hope that you enjoy my specimens.

Wow!! The chillagite looks to have been selectively back-etched somehow. Such a rare mineral.

And the veszelyite is a smoker as well. You don't see those every day.

Thanks for sharing.

Ed

Unique and exquisite Emerald specimen. An Emerald crystal with a scepter of an actual trapiche Emerald crystal and all gem. What a wonderful thrill to be the current care taker of this natures creation.

Hi Val. What a fantastic emerald and what a wonderful way of viewing things. We may not be here tomorrow and someone else will own the specimen. 'What a wonderful thrill to be the current care taker of this natures creation.'

This is not commonly seen at all!
Rough trapiches in good condition are rare but this sample is very, very special.
