PostPosted: Feb 05, 2017 11:39    Post subject: Chinese fluorite

Hello

I know that asking where does exactly a chinese fluorite come from is a kind of dummy question... however, this one may ring a bell to some of you.
The cube is 6 cm on edge; the color a pale blue-green, and the crystals show nice zoning. Some crystal faces are frozen while other ones are highly translucent. It was collected more than 10 years ago.
Any clue where does it come from? Xianghualing Mine??

Thanks for your tips
Jean-François

Well formed penetration twinned fluorite crystals are common from Yaogangxian, and it was one of the major sources of fluorite specimens at the time. Much of the fluorite from that mine is also a pale blue to purple color. Below is a specimen that I acquired in 2005.

I will not say that Xianghualing oder Xianghuapu are not possible, but as Jesse already suggested, this wonderful fluorite twin is most likely from Yaogangxian Mine.

Definitely Yaogangxian. The color and zoning is also distinctive.
