PostPosted: Apr 20, 2017 13:12    Post subject: Woodhouseite with Rutile?

Hi,

I bought this mineral as Woodhouseite, I'm in doubt about small red crystals on matrix. What is it? Micro crystals of Rutile?

Thank you.

Definitely looks like woodhouseite. Need a close up to comment on the microcrystals. Rutile is found there, but generally not associated with the woodhouseite areas.

Certainly look like Champion Mine (main cliff face) Woodhousite on quartz. I remember also finding such red crystals in May 1987 but they are packed away and I never analyzed or studied them further. On some bugs with Woodhousite were very long thin hairlike white tourmaline?crystals to 4-5 cm.

Send a fragment for analyses!
Peter
