MICHAEL, Nice example. I have several similar pyrite specimens from Duff's Quarry. I too etched some calcite from one of them.
Is there any specific reason your example still has a small remaining area of obviously acid etched calcite? Why not carefully etch it away with some vinegar?
Regards, BOB

Hi Bob,
No specific reason other than that's the way it came to me. I have thought about etching the remaining calcite away, but I suppose it serves to demonstrate the paragenesis at this location.
Cheers,
Michael

During the past 18 months, these purple grape chalcedony specimens have become commonplace in the stock of many dealers. Finding one that stands out among many hundreds if not thousands of pieces requires patience and persistence.

I like your Chalcedony! Great quality. I've seen so many of these but most are just meh quality. I think the smaller specimens are often underrated. It's the quality that counts.

Thanks for your comment Nunzio. I agree that smaller specimens are sometimes overlooked. That is why I have no size restrictions for my collection.

Michael, I enjoyed your latest posts so much. As a "galenaphile" I like your galena from Colorado though I must confess that I never heard of the Julia Fisk Mine. And your Jonas Mine rubellite, wow, simply a perfect small specimen.
You have a wonderful collection, a good taste in minerals and an ability to make really good photos of them :-)

Thank you for those kind words Tobi and Gérard. Sharing my collection with other collectors on this forum has been a pleasure, and being able to view the collections of other FMF members has provided countless hours of enjoyment.

Thanks Heimo. Romanian minerals have been a focus of my collection for over 30 years and this is the only calcite that I have ever seen from Herja with this habit. Glad you like it.
