Hola Firmo!

Muchas gracias for your kind appreciation.
These ones were recently "found" in the Bogota market which is scarcer than ever.
This shortage is due to a low supply of cut stones which automatically leads to a scarcity of quality specimens on the market for the average buyer.

We need to organize a mine tour on my next visit!

Aggregate of acicular pale-green emerald crystals, with traces of limonite.
This is a very unusual habit for Colombian emeralds.
It was sold to me by the dealer as from Gachalá but after some investigation it appeared that this specimen comes actually from a recent find in the area of San Pablo de Borbur.
When asked on the locality of a recent find, most of the Bogotá-based dealers either don't know or prefer to mislead the buyers by giving approximate or even false information.
This is often part of a long tradition of secrecy to keep the real locality undisclosed.

Very strange beryl - at first glance, I would have said gypsum from Australia. LOL

This forum is really a nice way to enlarge the mineralogical culture.

Thanks

Hello Phlippe!

I was confused too when I saw this specimen.
Hexagonal shape can be sensed for some crystals through magnification.
Green crystalline gypsum is unknown in any of the Colombian deposits.

This forum is definitely a wealth of information and knowledge!

Perfect. Beautiful combination.

Thanks Michael!
Chivor has often wider and more attractive combinations than Muzo, Coscuez, or La Pita.
