PostPosted: Jan 25, 2020 17:52    Post subject: Congratulations for the good news

Hi everyone.

A few days ago an important new appeared. One of those discoveries that will be studied in the institutes of the future, and that may have gone unnoticed by many: “Scientists Begin to Grasp the Stealthy Spread of Cancer”.

FMF is a scientific forum dedicated to minerals, but I cannot pass up this occasion without congratulating one of our members who is a leading scientist in another knowledge branch and also a minerals collector.

Joan Massagué is a world leader in cancer research, a well-known and respected international scientist.

It is not every day that a long research process is concluded that can save life of half humanity in the future.

Our fellow Dr. Joan Massagué, chairman of the Cancer Biology and Genetics Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, is responsible for a team of more than a thousand of researchers who have reached this conclusion last week.

The discovery changes the understanding of the disease and opens the way for improving treatments.

My heartfelt congratulations to the leader and his entire team. It is an honor to have such distinguished supporters and forum partners.

A link to the New York Times with a new in 2006 and other one in BIST in 2020:

August, 2006:
Dr. Joan Massagué of Memorial Sloan-Kettering says breakthroughs in metastatic cancers are on the horizon

January, 2020:
BIST Board Member Joan Massagué deciphers the origin of metastasis

Best regards.
