Really nice specimen, Mike, but are you sure this is from Dalnegorsk? Sure, there are many different fluorite shapes and colours from Dalnegorsk, but I have never seen anything like that with purple corners from Bor Pit or any other mine in Dalnegorsk.

The dealer I got it from (GneissWare) said the same thing that he too has never seen anything like this from Dalnegorsk. The original dealer sold it in 1997 and said that it came out of Dalnegorsk in the 1920's. I assume he believed the source of the material. At this point I am inclined to believe it is an oddity from Dalnegorsk.

I can see two types of inclusions:
the typical golden rutile needles well known.
but also a dark grey one: do you know if it is also rutile, or any kind of sulfosalt ?

Nice specimen, by the way :)

Thanks Philippe! I was told that both inclusions were rutile.

This was acquired by Carolyn Seitz from Ray Grant, who often traveled to Russia to acquire materials. He stated this was an old piece, and Ray knows Russian minerals.
