Thanks Volkmar - it's easy to pass over Indian zeolite specimens with seemingly millions of them on the market, but certain ones stand out at least to me. And thanks for the compliment on the photograph ;>)

Thank you very much Tobi. As you well know some specimens are much easier to present than others.

Thank you Silvia. Dalnegorsk has been a been a focus of mine for quite some time and our collection contains 59 specimens from the mines there. I was very happy to find this piece at a recent show and add it to the collection.

Dalnegorsk is in my humble opinion one of the world's greatest mineral deposits! Sure, not that many rare minerals like Tsumeb, Broken Hill, Mt. Saint Hilaire or Clara Mine, but a lot of mostly common but spectacular minerals, I love that locality!

I agree, danburites from Dalnegorsk are most likely from the "B" deposit.

Tobi

Hello Tobi:

Totally agree about Dalnegorsk. We have a few specimens in our collection and we hope to add more, but first Panasqueira.

Hello Michael
May I ask you, what do you use as black backdrop on this photo ?

I struggle to make a decent photo with this type of quartz.

Hi Philippe,

The black background is achieved by placing a black artist's mat board below the glass that the specimen is resting on. The one I use is placed at a 45 degree angle to the glass. The light halo that appears at the base of the specimen is an illuminated reflection from a glossy white mat board standing vertically behind the specimen. The attached photo shows my setup. It takes a bit of experimentation to get the desired results. Good luck.

Michael
