Hi Tobi. Always a pleasure to see you here.

It´s a very grateful place since it is an open pit mine and it is not necessary to go into a tunnel.

Although it is more common to obtain azurite that stains the rock in blue and it´s not as crystallized as this sample, you can find these azurites forming small stars. I´ve also found arborescent malachite.

It´s a wonderful experience as you say.

After looking more carefully, I agree: Dolomite with the typical curved edges and faces.
Nevertheless, a very nice picture!

I checked the label tonight and I’m happy to say you’re right. The label also says dolomite.

Right. What was I thinking?

Thank you both.

Fluorite from Koh-i-Maran Mountain, Kalat District, Baluchistan, Pakistan.

I personally think that fluorite is one of the most attractive minerals because of the large amount of shapes and colors it can take.

It´s surely a Tessin habit sample and maybe a Muzo habit due to the cross section of the upper part, that is not perfectly triangular but it´s trapezoidal.
It´s a colombian´s friend gift who cames from Bucaramanga, the Santander Department capital.

The Spanish menilite opal reminds me of two paintings by Salvador Dalí:

Was Salvador Dali a minerals collector? Did he know Camarillas reservoir?

Hi Firmo, Dalí was interested in rocks, the geology of his homeland Catalonia inspired him for many of his works and he also made jewelry designs. But I don't know if he was an active mineral collector or if he knew Camarillas.

Very nice sculpture. Actually I don't collect aragonite but the ones from San Giovanni are really beautiful. I only have one aragonite in my collection and it's from that mine.
