During a family vacation in 1964 I had the opportunity to collect at several of the mines on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. At that time, copper specimens were still relatively plentiful on the poor rock piles, and metal detectors were not needed. I have had a love for native copper ever since, and currently our collection contains 65 copper specimens from 19 different countries.

The following piece was mined in the early 1970s from the 1780-1860 bench of the Pearl Handle Pit.

Very good barite. Perfect and transparent crystals, with that green color that gives them a touch of elegance.

That's really funny, Michael: When I searched for a gold specimen a few months ago and before I finally decided to take this one ( https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=77338#77338 ) your elegant 2 cm gold specimen shown above was one of Jordi's specimens that I thought of purchasing. Good for you I decided for another one ;-)

Best regards
Tobi

Your gold specimen is more elegant than mine, it has a wonderful shape, very sculptural. I decided for the other one because I wanted a matrix piece. Really cool to see that someone from our community has the other one in his collection now :-)

Thank you, Silvia. I am very fond of Peruvian minerals as well. In fact, Peru ranks second behind Romania with respect to the number of specimens in the collection.
