Heading to Houston tomorrow, will do my usual photofest. Tomorrow night, Friday, is a reception/gathering hosted by Kristalle, Hams and Dave Waisman. I have my cameras ready to go.

Cheers!

Hi, Gail

I'm looking forward to the reports and photos. I won't be able to make it. My son has his prom
Saturday night......and I get to be witness to the after prom activities.....midnight to 4a.m. shift.

And Cindy turned 50 yesterday. I'm cooking shrimp Paesano, and making margaritas for her and several of her friends. Does too much estrogen harm the male psyche? I don't know if I really want
to know the deepest secrets of womanhood that are revealed after multiple margaritas.

Have a great time.

Paul

Ooooh, we are HERE in Houston and it is hot and humid! I lived here for 25 years and how quickly my body has forgotten life in humidity.
We arrrived at the Embassy suites at about 6:30 after a four hour drive down from Dallas. As we came in we saw a huge crowd of dealers, collectors and guests enjoying the bar area awaiting the reception room to open. Lots of hugs, kisses and hellos followed, we really do know so many people in our short time of mineral collecting.
Oh, by the way, this day one report is dedicated to Linda Vanegas Smith who is lamenting about not being here and I promised her that I would take lots of photos to ease the pain!!!!

We managed to pay our respects to many of the participants in last nights festivities and we brought along my best friend, Kathy, as well.
She met us here and we introduced her around. It was also her birthday, so she had many birthday wishes from all our friends.

So....some photos below.....

The evening was hosted by Kristalle, Hams and Dave Waisman. Thanks to all for a nice social evening on Friday night.

PostPosted: May 01, 2010 22:54    Post subject: Re: Gail Spann's HOUSTON 2010 show report

So we left the festivities to head to my parent's house, where we were staying. They live not all that far from the Houston show. We stopped at a gas station just off of the 610 loop to fill up and get something from McDonalds. We were made to feel unwelcome by the locals as Jim was bothered by a man who was begging and I had a woman who keyed my car when I was going to the passenger side of my car. She ran her key down the back door and really dug in deep. For no other reason than the color of my skin, really sad to see these things happening in 2010.
BUT....we left and didn't let it hinder our looking forward to the show the next day. Luckily the show is nowhere near the area of town where we encountered that problem.
