PostPosted: Oct 01, 2011 04:30    Post subject: MINERALS – The Collectors Newspaper

Thanks to Jordi I am happy to start on FMF topic about Minerals newspaper.

Minerals newspaper is given for free on the major shows. Format of the journal is A3, so twice bigger than majority of mineralogical journals. Whole newspaper is full color and printed on good quality paper. Number of page is not fix, usually issues have 20-24 pages.

We started journal in 2011 and up to day 2 issues were published, third one is on the way – it will be given at Munich show. Our plan for future is to publish 2 issues per year.

Goal of the newspaper is to show not only "ready" minerals but also minerals in situ – in veins, pockets etc. We also try to publish articles about important "new finds". In each issue we publish interview with interesting collector – as for now it was Jeff Scovil and Jolyon Ralph. From the third issue we start series of articles presenting mineralogical journals – at the end we want to cover all them.

Below you can find links to issues already published:

Issue #1: https://www.mindat.org/mindat_books.php?id=67&action=download

Issue #2: https://www.mindat.org/mindat_books.php?id=82&action=download

If you have any comments or ideas please post them at this topic.

Best regards

New issue of the MINERALS magazine is available on-line. It is mostly dedicated to the Tourmaline Queen Mine and 40th Anniversary of the "blue-cap" tourmalines find. There is also quite big interview with our mindat friends: Gail and Jim Spann.
Printed copies can be picked up at our booth in Munich: A6.312 and in Tucson.
On-line it is available here:

Again a wonderful newspaper issue, congratulations! The report about the amazonite finds at Pikes Peak was just thrilling, the specimens were so great, wow!
