PostPosted: Jul 24, 2012 12:38    Post subject: Crystal Park, MT thumbnails & miniatures

After finally cleaning 15 lb. or so of tiny rocks I dragged down from Crystal Park 2 years ago (only thing I ever found digging up there is a rock hammer, believe it or not), my casual addiction to macro photography has shown me some very, very interesting things. I've found crystal casts, encrusting minerals of several types with at least one showing a botryoidal habit, several types of inclusions, and one that looks in the previews as if it may have a single needle of a probably sulfide-type associated mineral. I doubt any of my little bitty rocks have much cash value, but some could be of great interest to area-history specialists (Pioneer Mtns, Big Hole area, etc.) and micro-photography fans. If there's any interest in swapping these I'll start posting scaled-down photos (my standard shot size is just over 3600 x 2400 pixels) of what I'm willing to part with; as I have mild OCD and a photo archive of my own work that is approaching 150,000 images, I'll need a place to start! Things I know I can find by keyword in my image library of Crystal Park specimens include: full points, red inclusions, yellow inclusions, yellow encrusting, white encrusting, dark encrusting, rainbow, citrine, mystery minerals, and multiple points. Things I am very sure I don't have are amethyst and scepters. Should it be of interest to anyone considering a swap, I can provide an 81-entry reference list from a site where I spent a while trading collectible card game cards, which I have on my computer as a document easy to email.
