PostPosted: May 20, 2008 06:35    Post subject: A new mineral exhibit at Elizabethtown College

On May 1 a new mineral exhibit at Elizabethtown College, in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania (USA), celebrated its official opening. The planning, organization and development of the small gallery was the work of John S. White, with the important assistance of mount-maker David Graham, volunteers Joe and Jeanne Dague, and college staff member Gretchen Stark. The gallery is in a new building at the college, the Masters Center for Science, Mathematics and Engineering, built with funds generously donated by Frank M. Masters, Jr. and dedicated in October 2007. Apart from having been an engineer for virtually all of his professional life, Frank was also a mineral collector. For this reason he and his partner Elizabeth Gault very much wanted to share the collection with the college and the Masters Mineral Gallery was created for that purpose. Although it is a small gallery, the facility is an elegant showcase for the collection which is displayed in state-of-the-art display cases made in Germany.

A new mineral gallery opening has been reported in Rocks & Minerals!
The September/October issue of the magazine carries an article about the mineral exhibit at Elizabethtown College, and they kindly permitted us to reproduce much of the text from that article here.
