This specimen is very special to us, simply because it is so unique. We purchased it in 2009.

I will start with a self collected specimen, a beryl crystal on quartz matrix. I collected this at a site (near Brandberg), that a German friend of mine discovered some years ago.

Celestite, Madagascar. We have very little specimens from this amazing mineral country. I visited there a few years ago, but unfortunately not on a mineral buying trip. Most of the specimens on offer in SA are low quality and badly damaged, this one being an exception.

Thank you Don. I also enjoy your collection, especially the Rhodos.

The next 2 specimens from our collection, that I want to show, are two small fluorites from the Erongo mountains, Namibia. When I first saw these, I thought they were garnets!

Today I will present an intriguing little specimen from Mount Malosa, Zomba, Malawi. The yellow/orange colouring is due to tiny needles of an unknown mineral (resembling Rutile).

Hi Mark. I searched around and I suspect the 'rutile' like mineral is Epiditymite. See link below.

Pierre, the curved Brandberg quartz is outstanding and I love that little Erongo fluorite. Nice that you were able to capture not only the vivid color but the interesting surface texture of the fluorite.
