Already in Munich. The weather in North East of France was super, still warm, and here in Munich is not bad at all although some fog and in general a cloudy day, as usual here.
For the next days is announced cold time and even snow. Dress warmly! ;-)

Due to unexpected difficulties of my access by Internet to some parts of FMF from my Hotel, sorry but I can't publish my regular news from the Show until my return to Barcelona. If in the meantime someone could cover these days with some notes / columns it would be great.
Sorry again, my life during the Shows is very complicated and without a full / good access to the network I can't do anything else.

A few impressions from yours truly, quite overwhelmed like every year...
So it will good to start with a complete overview - a whole minerals and gems and crystal-healing and special-exhibits and posters and... show (filling four huge halls in reality) in a nutshell, a labor of love of the Heinlein twins (with support from the family)!

Over to the colectors' and clubs' show cases. As in earlier years, these are near impossible to photograph due to the skylights (and visitors, and camera lens) reflecting in the inclined glass panes. Trying to position the camera so as to avoid the reflections tends to result in poor viewing angles for the exhibits themselves. A selection of more or less successful compromises follows.

The exhibits are generally well placed for viewing and (with one or two exceptions) well lit. Some of the labels could have done with more careful copy-editing. The ordering of the cases does not always follow any obvious logic - Morocco is mostly grouped together, most of the other items are all over the continent.
The following is but a small fraction of the total...
Of course I have no accurate specimen sizes, but the labels are consistently sized and thus provide an indication. The labels also give location information. Since it's getting late, I'm not bothering to repeat the details in the additional entry fields.

I applaud the exhibition team for the courage to include several cases of thumbnails (well, mostly more toenail to miniature sized). Neatly arranged they are easy to view and add a lot to the big picture.

Thank you much for your kind words, Antonio and Pierre!
My coverage is very far from comprehensive - I hope very much that more people are about to return from the show with photographic recollections, to add their own perspectives and fill some of the many gaps.
Also, reminder to self for next year - the exhibitions are far less crowded on Sunday morning. I should have thought of that earlier!
Here are a few more shots from today. Aside from the great theme exhibition (which varies from year to year), there's also the recurrent Alpine exhibition in the next hall (which varies also, but stays within the geographical scope of the Alps). This year it was presented by the KristAlpin group from the Ahrn (Aurina) valley, South Tyrol / Bolzano province, Italy. All specimens below are from that general area. Again, this is a small selection of what was shown.
And winter has arrived - the Dinos, like many of the visitors, will now be departing to warmer pastures...
