That's a nice large stibnite specimen Don! The calcite crystals on the fluorite are very aesthetic.

Regards, Mike

Don,

The morphology of those 'sandwich' calcites is really distinctive. Enough so, that I think a more specific location can be determined.

Michael

Thank you, Mike and Michael.

Michael, I emailed the dealer from whom I had acquired the "sandwich" calcites this week. I asked him if he had a specific location for that specimen and he told me that China was all the information he had.

Regards,

Don

Some of these were floating around Tucson this year. If this was bought recently it might be from that group.

Thank you very much, Jordi and Bob.

Jordi, I think that is the most likely location and I will label my specimen accordingly.

Bob, I have had it nearly a year.

With much appreciation,

Don

Very interesting Galena, it almost looks like an old type set block from a printing press. Very nice selection of specimens Don.

Two Pyrite Specimens

The first one is from Duff Quarry, Ohio. The second one is a pyrite with an interesting habit.

Dr. R. Peter Richards wrote an article that featured a detailed analysis of many of the crystal forms found at the Duff Quarry. The article was published in the 1987 Mineralogical Record, Vol 18, number 6, pages 391-398. The title was "Pyrite Crystals from the Duff Quarry."
