Great posting Gail, and seeing your tourmaline exhibit stunned me and left me needing to sit. Nice job.

Gail, I am intrigued by the specimen https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/files/dsc_0477_114.jpg featured in https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=34187#34187 looks like a Panjshir emerald on a micaschist matrix although the color seems to be a bit too blueish.

Gerard, it is..indeed...an emerald. Afghan I believe. We haven't unpacked it yet, so don't have all the details. We have others from there and it might just be the lighting in the room that influenced the photo?

Vic, you are very sweet to say that. Hugs.

The blue quartz with tourmaline inclusions is fascinating. I wish I could have been there to hear Jim's lecture on tourmalines.

Don, we ended up purchasing that blue quartz, it was just wonderful. Jim's talk was really good, if I should say so myself, he gave a worldwide tour of tourmalines, nice!

Hi Gail: No need to duck and run. I have worked hard to earn that reputation so I am not offended when I hear or see it. I had intended to include in this message the German, French, Italian and Spanish equivalents of curmudgeon, but they appear not to exist. What a shame!

Really enjoyed Jim's talk in spite of the cell phones going off every ten minutes. Why are some people so impolite?

"Curmudgeon" = "Cascarrabias" in Spanish language.

I knew I could count on you Jordi to know curmudgeon in Spanish, but what about French? Catalan?

Wow John, maybe I should take back my use of that word to associate with you. You are, after all, just a big ole Teddy Bear.

In Catalán language: "Rondinaire"

For other languages I prefer to let our illustrated "natives" to say his opinion.

I like that rondinaire! Has a nice ring to it, and few people will know what it means.
