Something very different. When I was at Tucson, I met Adam Ramseyer, a very creative jeweller, in the Mighty Gem and Mineral Co room at the Pueblo. Adam owns Ramstar Designs and had one of his latest creations on display, the Star Defender. It includes a tanzanite cut by well-known facetor John Dyer, tourmaline, and other gems. I agreed to give this a go and here is the result...

Amazing, Steve.

Sure beats my dilettantish attempts at photography, not to mention what I'd be able to draw…

Cheers, Gerhard

A couple of recent pieces of art...

Firstly a wulfenite painted from memory - no reference to a specimen or photo. And secondly, a Sweetwater galena. The wulfenite is watercolour on black paper (Inktense watercolour pencils). The galena is graphite (Derwent XL graphite) on white paper.

...And here I am trying to reach behind my monitor, just to check whether I'll be able to see my fingertips through the Wulfie pane…

Fascinating how you've captured the transparency.

Cheers, Gerhard (crawling off to search my jaw on the floor)

Off to the Ballarat Art Gallery! I am fortunate to be one of around 22 local artists selected for an exhibit at the Ballarat Art Gallery. The exhibition will open on Saturday 13th December and run through to about the 25th January. My painting selected is a wulfenite from Los Lamentos, Mexico that I completed a couple of years ago.
