We had better tell them that Dolomite is hexagonal and not cubic! Peter

The dolomite is rather accurately shown for art. Dolomite is trigonal and the crystals shown are displaying the trigonal symmetry of the c axis of dolomite. One of the crystals on the edge is pseudocubic, but perspective can be confusing. Look down the [111] diagonal axis of pyrite and you will see a similar shape.

Perhaps the artist is utilizing his "artistic license."

I am a little bit concerned; shouldn't that truck have another set of wheels in the middle? It reminds me a bit of a daschund! Never mind, the company involved is enjoying quite a bit of free publicity. I hope Jordi doesn't mind:-)

Mind? me? I own this truck!. That's why the publicity shows a "cubic" Dolomite, my crystallographic knowledge is so poor... ;-) ;-)

Hi,
there are also pseudo-cubic calcites.
Roger.

Even though it does look as if they got the habit wrong (problems with perspective aside), I still think it is very cool that there is a mineral and its chemical formula on the side of a rental truck. Furthermore, this truck got me to do a search on the Ketona dolomite and I learned about this interesting place where only exotic magnesium and drought resistant plants grow, because of this dolomite.

The Uhaul company is to be commended for a dedicated effort to educate. Many of the trucks are decorated with natural history themes and have been very well received. This is the point Matt is making.
See for instance the site:

Two paragraphs found on this site are quoted below.
"To understand the difference between the modern "Venture Across America and Venture Across Canada" campaigns and the classic "America’s and Canada's Moving Adventure" campaigns, let’s take the example of the state of New Jersey. New Jersey is known as the Garden State; therefore, U-Haul saluted prideful New Jerseyans with a SuperGraphic depicting a vegetable farmer holding a basket of fresh produce. When New Jersey was saluted in the new edition of SuperGraphics, the image of a hardworking miner holding a fluorescent mineral-bearing rock was used.
Many people outside of New Jersey are unaware of the state’s mining heritage. During the industrial revolution, the vast mineral deposits of New Jersey played a very important role in fueling the nations’ growing economy. Today, the state has two mines that hold extremely rare compositions of fluorescent mineral deposits not found anywhere else in the world. These mines are now not-for-profit museums that work hard, through educational efforts, to preserve the heritage of New Jersey’s mining history. The SuperGraphics program prompted the Corporate Philanthropy Award nomination (in the education category) for the U-Haul Company of Northern New Jersey."
If you visit the site given above you can click on a link illustrating the fluorescent minerals and New Jersey miner.
