What glorious photography - makes you forget that what you are looking at is in some cases less than a mm in size...WOW!

Hello Jordi/ Alfredo:

Please transmit to Christian my thanks for the kindness in providing us with these very detailed and useful information. They will be very useful to me.

I would like to fully endorse Jordi's comments about Christian: he is one of the kindest and most knowledgeable dealers on the mineral business.

Merry Christmas and a Perfect 2010 to all of you.

Hi all,
as always great pictures from Christian! Jordi, there is a small 'bug' in the caption of the 'chalcantite' in your last post ... should read chalcostibite if i remember those specimens right.

all the best
cheers
Roger

PostPosted: Dec 23, 2009 17:36    Post subject: Re: The tricks of Christian Rewitzer to do micro photographs

I've been quietly enjoying these wonderful images. I presume they must be "stacked" images. Christian, would you confirm this, and if so, tell us how many images you stack and how you space them?

Beyond that question, I wish to say the lighting is fantastic. This is a challenge in photographing minerals in general, and second only to depth of field for micromounts specifically. The lighting carries so much information to the eye! If well done, the image springs into 3-D. If not well done, we don't understand what we're seeing!

I love the first atacamite picture so much that I want to make a painting of it, but I would not want to infringe on intellectual property.
