Dr. Victor Gorduza was the founder and also the former director of the Museum of Mineralogy in Baia Mare, Romania, one of the most remarkable personalities of the contemporary Romanian museology.
The history of Museum of Mineralogy is really associated with his exceptional work and abnegation. His entire life was dedicated to Romanian geology-mineralogy and mineralogical heritage conservation.
Deeply grateful for his Museum Heritage that passed to all us.
Condolences to his family and friends.

Rest in Peace, Victor !

When I went to Romania for first time, in the Ceaușescu times, the Romanian mineralogy was a wasteland. Just a magnificent Museum in Baia Mare escaped from that disaster. It was a reference point for collectors, for scientists and for all the Romanians, because in a country that at that time was anchored in the past, this Museum was a glimmer of hope.

My deepest condolences to his family, specially to his son Andrei, who in some way was a support for his father to continue with his task, always struggling to keep the museum open.

Rest in peace Victor Gorduza, you can be proud for what you did.
