PostPosted: Oct 14, 2014 03:17    Post subject: Igneous Rocks from egypt

I live near one of the ancient sunken Roman villages on the shore of the Mediterranean in Egypt. From time to time, I find some igneous rocks from the collections of ancient Romans . I can successfully identify some of them after a long search on the internet pages and many times I fail .
These are some of my attempts in this regard .
please tell me if I fail in the right identification of a rock .

I have a special place in my heart for Egypt, so it is nice to see some minerals from there. Is there perhaps any mineral clubs or collectors in Egypt?

With a lot of maybe, I can guess:
1 - granite - igneous - intrusive
2 - maybe andesite - igneous - volcanic
3 - maybe granodiorite - igneous - intrusive
4 - granite - igneous - intrusive
5 - serpentinite - metamorphic
6 - maybe a jasper nodule
7 - maybe diorite - igneous - intrusive
8 - maybe diabase - igneous - intrusive (slightly metamorphosed)
9 - maybe jasper nodules
10 - maybe diabase - igneous - intrusive (slightly metamorphosed)
11 - limestone with calcite hydrothermal vein - sedimentary
bye, marco

Many thanks, Pierre Joubert and Marco Campos-Venuti.
There are no clubs for mineral collectors in Egypt.
Egypt is in the site of the heart of the world and the world is in the heart of Egypt;
this is an ancient heart of granite a special gift for you .
