Absolutey! I really like your recently posted fluorites (Orange River, Elmwood Mine, Berbes/Spain), very aesthetic. But all the other specimens are good, too.

| Yes, indeed a fine example of that German classic. And an interesting matrix augite. Do you have info where exactly in the Eifel it was found? If there are any other minerals (maybe even some more from Germany), please keep posting them!

Unfortunately, the handwritten label simply says Eifel Mt. Looks like there are a number of localities that could have produced it.

Yes Bob, augite is a common mineral in the Eifel Mountains. Most specimens on the market are provided with no further info than this. I thought maybe yours is. But i like it because it is a matrix specimen, and most of the Eifel augites i see are single crystals.

For anyone interested in the Chinese locality producing the Ilvaites, I have a bit more information:
Kèshíkèténg Qí is the correct pinyin for Hexigten Banner. It is a small town 30 miles as the crow flies from the mining district. On google maps it is labeled as "Hexigten".
Many of these specimens are incorrectly labeled as Baotou, which is about 1000km west of the mine area.
So, these specimens should be labeled as:
Unknown Fe mine
Hexigten Banner
Chifeng Prefecture
Inner Mongolia A.R.
China
or probably more correctly (to match pinyin):
Unknown Fe mine
Kèshíkèténg Qí
Chifeng Prefecture
Inner Mongolia A.R.

Awesome specimens from Mongolia!! I have seen the ilvaites and hedenbergites -even not fibrous- but such arsenopyrite fans are actually new for me.

Thanks. It is much nicer in person. I still have much to learn on lighting. Now, all I need is a Cassiterite, Scheelite, Beryl and Fluorite combo on Muscovite, and I will have the piece I want. I am sure they can make one in China to order ;=)) These Xuebaoding pieces are getting harder to find, now that the area is a panda sanctuary, or something like that.

Bob, this is indeed a nice combo scheelite-beryl-muscovite.
But getting a Xuebaoding specimen with cassiterite, scheelite, beryl and fluorite on muscovite (and why not kësterite too?) will really be difficult, and costly.

Formerly in the Anton Berger (Mödling, Austria; 1870-1956) private collection. This is a fine old Swiss specimen from the Earl Calvert collection. |

Two light-straw-yellow Wulfenites are attractively perched on a small piece of matrix. Several small wulfenites are also present. The main crystal is 1.4 cm and is undamaged. Minor edge wear is present on some of the smaller Wulfenites. This is a rare color from Tsumeb. |

Two large, doubly terminated and cyclic-twinned Aragonite crystals predominate on this specimen, originating from the type locality for Aragonite. Several other crystals are attractively placed. These Aragonites have a spectacular purple hue and a bright luster. The pinacoidal faces are also lustrous and bright, unlike many specimens from this locality. A gemmy crystal penetrates the pinacoid face of the largest crystal. |
