From the east side of the Erongo Mts., between the village of Tubussis and the Amib farm (about 15 km north of the farm). I got this from Chris Johnston before it had been cleaned, and like it this way.
Quartz measures 43 x 25 x 22 mm
Fluorite to 11 mm
Microcline up to 30 x 27 x 24 mm

Bright light-pink managoan Calcite to 91 x 42 x 18 mm accented with light-smoky Quartz points to 65 x 19 mm. The Quartz are somewhat sceptered as typical with the better crystals from this locality, and a few are included with green, likely Actinolite.

Wonderful Löllingite, particularly with the Fluorite and Scheelite associations. Is that a little Genthelvite hiding in a pocket in the upper left across from the main Fluorite and Scheelite crystals?

Love the zoom feature on the pictures, it gives a whole new aspect, especially when the photography is this good. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Joseph. The triangular-looking crystal is another Scheelite. Too bad it isn't a Helvite! The dealer I got this from didn't realize there were Scheelites present, so I got a much better deal. That's really why I bought it.

This cluster of Stibnite crystals to 36 mm long are nearly completely covered with cubes of translucent clear Fluorite to 5 mm with just a hint of purple color. This specimen came out in a one-time find which was brought to Tucson in the late 1980s. In excellent condition.

PostPosted: May 27, 2014 08:03    Post subject: Bob's rocks - Topaz from Burma

Thanks Don & Mike, Next up...

Unlike most of the sherry-colored Topaz specimens from Mogok, which are single crystals, this one is perched on a matrix of Albite (v. Cleavlandite). The Topaz is very gemmy, equant crystal, and measures 79 x 39 x 34 mm. The top termination is crystallographically complex. The specimen is nearly pristine, with only one very small chip on the termination. A book of Muscovite is included at the top of the Topaz. It is a large and fine Topaz.
