Hi Jordi,
I've taken a look at spanish version, there are lots of beautiful specimens from Spain, especially fluorites and cinnabar!
For the emerald,I don't really know,I have baught from a friend.
He had the label with the item, but he didn't fint it,so I only remember this emerald came from kazakhstan.
However I know the guy who has sold this specimen to my friend,I will ask him!
This magnetite is not the better I've seen, the guy who has given me this specimen has other ones(one is terrific, about 13-15cm high, only sub-parallel magnetite, there is a hole between the crystals)and he told me his father had a 40kg specimen...
here are other french specimens, especially calcedony and lussatite.

PostPosted: Dec 20, 2008 05:42    Post subject: Re: Collection of Patrice Cmolik

what is interesting with "lussatite" from Auvergne,is the intergroth of lussatite and calcedony.
What is named lussatite is hydrated silicium oxyde, some guys are making researches to know what it's really made of and how.
Ones are talking about micro-cristobalite,other are talking about amorphous rhomboedric silice(opal?)
Where I live this specie is a little bit mystical!

Many thanks, Patrice, for showing your collection photos here. We hope you will keep posting them in the near future.

There is, however, some indefinition in several localities. As Jordi Fabre said yesterday, please, could you be more specific about the emerald from Kazakhstan? What is the locality of the silver from Mexico? It would be interesting to include the exact place, if you know it.

The system will not allow you to edit your posts, we know. If you can gather that data, please, add a reply with them and I myself will ammend it.

I like a lot the baryte from Chatel-Gyuon, and the emerald as well.

Ok,I will try to do it!
For the silver I have the location, the label is at home, and I'm not,I have the history too,I will put it when I go back home!
For the emerald I don't know when I will know the exact location,so if somebody knows more about this,I will be happy to learn more about that!
For the specimens from Auvergne I will modify!
Thanks!

the most part of the lussatite specimens came from Dallet in Puy-de Dôme,except the reddish specimen that came from Lempdes in Puy-de Dôme,the location is near Clermont-Ferrand,there are lots of places where you can find calcedony and Lussatite specimens,it's difficult to find lots of same habit items, because the shape is changing when you digg 20 cm on the left or 10cm on the rights, even on the same rock, from the top to the bottom the habit changes!
There was bitume mines around Clermont-Ferrand.
I have seen there is a section to find unknown locations,I think I heve some specimens to put there,a crocoite,a rhodochrosite, and other!

thanks a lot!

one of those I prefer:
does someone know about this"fox pocket"?
What is strange on this crystal is the "round corners",similar to specimens from Blue circle quarry.

That is a great Wulfenite, I love how sharp the edge is, tell me do you black the backgrounds out on your computer or do you take them on a black sheet? It's just I always find it hard to get the light right on a black sheet.

Funny,I have explained to a friend how I do ,maybe one hour ago!
I use a black background, like velvet, with the darker side(with no flaskes)to the eye,I take shots without flash, under exposed to darken the background, and not to have to much light in the specimen.
I modify the photo on paint.
Now I just have to do minor paint effects on the black background.
