If anyone has rocks or minerals they don't need or want any more I would love to have them for free if possible

Be careful asking for rocks many members have lots of leavarite in their gardens they would be more than willing to part with provided you cover the postage.

Haha, you live very economically! Must I pay the postage too?

Hi, solarflare, welcome to FMF.

This is not the right way to use this exchange section. People usually upload a picture of the specimen and the users who are interested in it write a request using a private message. Such a general post as yours is probably unmeaning for users... Here you can read the rules of the exchange section.

Maybe it is also a good idea if you introduce yourself in FMF writing a reply here.

I am replying to this posting with a warning. Be very wary that this request for "free minerals" is nothing more than a scam. The original poster has not used a real name or given any semblance of credible evidence for anyone to donate anything. I personally suspect that any freely donated specimens will not go into his collection, but only be promptly resold. Only 10 donated examples resold for $10 each = $100. A nice start for a scammer! This seems not to be a mineral swap or exchange request so be wary! CHEERS.....BOB

PostPosted: Feb 11, 2016 10:40    Post subject: Re: Help with free collecting

my name is Theodore Hansen and I am just a beginner at collecting rocks and minerals. I am solely a collector and I do not sell any of my minerals because to me every mineral I receive from someone is considered a special gift given from the heart but I understand if people just want money for minerals. thanks for understanding

Continue to be wary!!! On Feb 8 at 3:35 am a THEODORE HANSEN posted a similar request for free minerals on the Mindat website. This was the one and the same posting that I have referred to. I suggest, if any of you are interested, I suggest referring to that posting. He used a suspicious story of his minerals being stolen in a robbery from his apartment. He now states that he is a beginner, but in the Mindat posting he states that several really nice specimens and meteorite examples were taken (!!??) He states that there is a police report, but short of showing us a credible copy of something like a legitimate police report, I am still very suspicious of this whole episode. CHEERS.....BOB
