PostPosted: Dec 20, 2016 11:11    Post subject: Lets go to India - Need Advice

Dear All,
I'm going to India In January and February and will travel between Mumbai and New Delhi during a 1 month time.
Obviously, as a young geologist, I want to visit some mineralogical localities!
I hope to receive some help from FMF members as this country and the geology is totally new for me (except what I have read about the basalt and the zeolites in the the famous localities...).
Looking at the Indian map and on Mindat it looks to have a lot of other localities than the ones in the vicinity of Mumbai.

I dare ask for some help to plan my expedition!
If you have any advice, contacts or information to share please let me know!

I have already contacted two well-known people of the zeolite business but they will be out in Tucson (Maki and Hermant Merchant...)

My main goal is not necessarily to buy specimens (although I will do for sure!) but more to take pictures of the minerals in situ in order to write a small article,
