I noticed this label has two different localities listed.
Notice: Dekalb, NY, Vermont.
I was told the piece was Eden Mills, VT, Diopside with Garnet, when purchased.
What do you think?

The grossular crystals on diopside could very well be from Eden Mills, VT. Why the label says "diopside, De Kalb, NY, is beyond me. The diopside form that locality is NOT associated with garnets of any kind, and looks totally different.

When i bought it I was able to find all kinds of similar looking smaller specimens from Eden Mills, VT so i didnt even bother to notice that label discrepancy. I noticed now, years later, randomly, and cant seem to find similiar loooking specimens this time around.
Maybe this guy or girl was like me. I go to so many locations each week. If you ask me where I was last Tuesday I'll likely not be sure and even then I could've been to two other places that day.
Sorry about that blue glare from my computer screen in some of the pics. It does add a cool effect though...

You can look up localities on mindat.org and see representative samples of the minerals that may occur. It is not 100 percent perfect, but it is quite good for this kind of research.
