Hello

My nephew and I recently found this mineral. It hasn't iridescent that you can't see in the photo. Kind of like and opal. But without the different colors.

I cut and cabbed the stone

I think it may be a feldspar of some sort possibly a Sunstone

1) what color is translucent with an inter Shiner iridescent street with red and pink veins and scaly patterns.

2) the streak test is clear

3) the luster is vitreous

4) the hardness is approximately 6.5

Have attached a photo and thank you very much for any help. We are novices and really enjoy learning

I apologize for the photo quality... It is more clear than it shows... and it has a great firey inner luster that doesn't show.

I also used my phone with speech recognition and only now notice the grammar errors.
sorry.

Thanks again for all your help.

And after testing again I believe this hardness is a solid 7

Looks like quartz but since its not a natural specimen you wont get much help here. This forum is for mineral identification which means natural specimens, not lapidary.

This is simply an ugly quartz with some iron staining.

yes, your mineral is quartz with minor iron stain. This becomes evident when coupled with the result of your new hardness test which yields a seven for the hardness of the specimen.
Enjoy your mineral./ lapidary specimen.
