Dave Bunk is in charge of the exhibits, so he was really great and helpful too.
This is the process for putting the glass in the cabinets once we are satisfied with them.

And more photos.

Set up day is Thursday, we took 12 hours to do the job. We are in comfortable clothes and good shoes. We also brought good rugs to stand on to ease the concrete floor hardness as well as a safety drop zone for any mineral that might slip. Luckily only one small TN dropped and bounced, unharmed, on the rugs.

Oh, by the way, no makeup or anything on set up day, it is pretty much a "avoid" the camera day, even though Jim did manage to snap a shot or two.

PostPosted: Aug 13, 2009 21:20    Post subject: Re: Preparing to display at the East Coast Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show 2009

We took the RV back to the rental place this morning ,what a fiasco! We had to back it up down the country lane to head out and we had to S L O W L Y pass a moving van parked on the side only to turn a corner and encounter two large tree trimming trucks, complete with swing arms and buckets. Yikes. Jim managed to pull it off only to have a woman putting balloons on the corner we needed to turn onto as she marked the road for a child's birthday party. Eeek!
We figured it was our last test at obstacle course maneuvers before returning the beastie. My Toyota felt darn small after driving the RV all week.

So..moving on....

PostPosted: Aug 13, 2009 21:48    Post subject: Re: Preparing to display at the East Coast Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show 2009

We brought only 1/3 of our collection for display leaving many wonderful but perhaps more delicate minerals at home. We didn't bring anything from India...too delicate to chance moving. But the displays give an overview of our way of collecting. All sizes, all locales, and seldom only one of anything.

He is Joaquim Callén photographer and editor of the Spanish magazine Mineralup ( https://www.mineralup.com/ ).

You can see him doing a similar job in the Barcelona Show Expominer in this post of the Spanish Forum: https://www.foro-minerales.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1499#1499
