Mineral: Ilvaite, Quartz
Locality: Torre di Rio, Santa Filomena area, Rio Marina, Elba Island, Livorno Province, Tuscany, Italy
Dimensions: 10 x 10 cm

Description: A pine cone with dozens of crystals covered by Quartz and iron oxides. Fortunately most of the terminations are free from encrustations. The emerging body of crystals reach 30 mm. Almost all terminations show iridescence. The esthetics could have been improved by eliminating oxidation, but I preferred to leave this ancient type locality Ilvaite natural.
