Mineral: Quartz (variety amethyst) with Calcite
Locality: Artigas Department, Uruguay
Dimensions: 11x6.5x4 cm's
Description: An otherwise, rather nondescript amethyst specimen from Uruguay except for the rather interesting calcite wafer that is attached near the base. There is a partial hexagonal shaped crystal of calcite that is penetrated through it's center by a column of calcite coated by a skin of clear druzy quartz crystals. The calcite crystal shows an interrupted growth pattern on either end of the terminations and does not appear to be etched.
