Mineral: Enargite and Pyrite
Locality: Quiruvilca District, Santiago de Chuco Province, La Libertad Department, Peru
Dimensions: 8 x 7.5 x 5 cm / main crystal: 2.5 cm

Description: Mass: 272 g MIM number:2173 V-shaped twin made of two flattened enargite crystals coated with shiny microscopic crystals of another sulfide. The enargite has grown on a matrix made of beveled octahedral crystals (maximum size: 1.6 cm - most likely pyrite covered in places with a gray coating). Other smaller enargite crystals are found here and there on the matrix. The specimen is aesthetic for a mineral which is rarely so. Photographer: FMI / James Elliot
