Mineral: Carletonite with Quartz and Siderite

Description: Mass: 32 g MIM number: 1606 Aggregate of carletonite crystals with quartz needles and other minerals. One of the crystals is perfectly formed and seems to have had no contact with other crystals or with the matrix as is often the case for this species. It is 0.8 cm wide and is very pleochroic: sapphire dark blue along the main axis and white to slightly pink on the perpendicular axis. Another larger well formed crystal has its faces striated lengthwise and shows the same pleochroism.
