Description: _MINERAL POETRY I have become very interested in mineral poetry as a means of adding new dimensions to my mineral photography, art work and historical mining artifacts. The reasons for this are many, so I will relate just a few of those that are important to me. In the world of mineral collecting I sincerely believe, poetry offers a unique lens, transcending mere scientific classification. Each geode, crystal, or raw ore specimen holds a silent narrative, a testament to eons of geological processes. Poetry unlocks this hidden value, allowing us to appreciate not just the mineral's composition or formation, but its intrinsic beauty, its journey from earth's fiery core to our outstretched hand. A carefully crafted verse can evoke awe by describing for example the dazzling iridescence of a fine Elba Hematite, the stoic strength of a Panasqueira Ferberite, or the intricate geometry of a fine Arkansas Quartz cluster, transforming inert minerals into vibrant symbols of time, resilience, and the earth's profound artistry. Through poetic expression, mineral collecting becomes less about acquisition and far more about communion with the ancient, enduring spirit of our beloved planet. In times of fear and confusion, poetry can offer comfort and hope. It can show that we are more than the sum of our parts and there is a profound spiritual connection between the organic and the inorganic. Everything in this mechanical Universe is connected and I believe poetry can become the light to show the way.
