Fluorite with Quartz and Arsenopyrite - Huanggang Mines, China - 120.0 x 92.0 x 45.0 mm
Mineral: Fluorite with Quartz and Arsenopyrite
Locality: Huanggang Mines, Hexigten Banner (Kèshíkèténg Qí), Chifeng (Ulanhad), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
Dimensions: 120.0 x 92.0 x 45.0 mm

Description: Sharp, teal-blue cuboctahedral Fluorites to 28 mm display with stark contrast on pure-white Quartz. In fact, the Fluorite have been exposed by selectively removing the Quartz coating. This Quartz matrix also reveals a lustrous, silvery Arsenopyrite to 25 mm across, hidden beneath. A close inspection reveals a grey, amorphous metallic coating atop the Arsenopyrite and beneath the Quartz, most likely Molybdenite. This is a top quality specimen from a small find at the end of 2013, and is in pristine condition.
