Locality: Searles Lake, Mojave Desert, San Bernardino County, California, USA
Dimensions: 3.8 x 5.5 cm

Description: Doubly terminated hexagonal hanksite crystal from the type locality. The crystal is somewhat translucent and fluoresces pale yellow under SW UV illumination. I wish I had photographed this crystal in its pristine condition when I acquired it 25 years ago, as it has deteriorated significantly in spite of keeping it coated with mineral oil.
